There are many well-authenticated instances of copies of the Bible shielding people from death on the battlefield. A young officer was given a Bible which he carried in his hip pocket. His mother had written on the flyleaf the verse from Psalm 91: "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." (Ps 91:7) A shrapnel shell burst close to him, a piece of it struck the Bible and cut through Psalm 91, blackening the very page, but glanced off and the officer's life was saved.  The word of God is tried, tested and found to be true. Nothing compares with it. Psalm 18:30 declares:

“As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried:

He is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”

Countless individuals testify of how God’s word has become a shield and a buckler to them. If we continue to trust God and fervently read and obey the commands of the scriptures, we will not only enjoy physical protection but also shielded from every wicked arrows of the devil and his agents. How we need to immerse our lives in God’s word and the instructions contained therein.

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalm 119:160
